Following our conversation yesterday I have detailed below the information regarding a classic race meeting at Drumlanrig Castle, which is in the very South of Scotland about 50mins from Carlisle.
Things for our planned meeting at this historic castle well ahead now following several meetings with the estate team. From both perspectives everything is now in place for the meeting and our Classic club are working to make it a success, not only for us but probably more importantly for the Castle. We would like to have this venue for an annual event and it would be suitable for the CMXDN which Scotland have put their hat in the ring for in 2019.
For the event we have agreed that camping will be available from Thursday lunchtime until Monday lunchtime which is brilliant for folks to come and enjoy not only the castle and grounds but the surrounding area. All sorts of facilities are available including, Adventure playground, mountain bike trails, nature walks/drives etc plus entry to the Castle itself (extra charge) which has a cafe/tearoom for all visitors. Entertainment booked for Friday night "Scottish Disco including open mike session" and a live band for Saturday night in the marquee where there will also be plenty of Scottish "beverages" to sample.
We have had a very successful promotion locally but would like to see some riders from further afield and have to date got a couple coming over from the States , one from Australia and a team from Eire. We are having team races at the event, similar to he old Inter Centre Scramble and the idea of these team races seems to have struck a chord with peoples imagination and for sure got many people talking about it.
Anyway it would be good if we could expand the international flavour of this event and hopefully have some of your colleagues coming to do battle with the Scots on their home turf. ... See MoreSee Less
